Michael has had a life-long affinity with the marine environment having spent most of his life in and around the ocean while growing up throughout Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific.  Some of his first childhood memories are of the ocean and having learned to dive at a very young age meant he could explore the marine environment and its remarkable inhabitants from an early age.

The marine environment is indeed filled with some of the planet’s greatest natural wonders.  With a deep passion for the ocean, the philosophy behind Michael's photography has always been to showcase its natural beauty.  Michael also recognises the ongoing need to understand the complex marine ecosystems and that the significance of our oceans cannot be underestimated - it not only makes up 99 percent of all living space on the planet, but life on land is utterly dependent on the life and chemistry of the ocean.

Michael continues to offer his images to those that are at the forefront of efforts to raise awareness of the marine environment and who work to preserve fragile marine ecosystems.   As such, you might be interested in using Michael's images if you are one of the following:

  • Scientists or scientific organisations involved in marine conservation and research;

  • Dive centres/resorts that actively promotes marine conservation and maintain ethical practices for divers and underwater photographers/videographers;

  • Government or non-government organisations focused on advocacy and fund raising for marine conservation purposes; and

  • International publications that showcase the marine environment.

Examples of Michael’s work have appeared in several publications and he has also won a range of international underwater photography competitions.
